10 Most expensive hotels

The Le Dune, Forte Village Resort, located on the Mediterranean Island of Sardinia, Italy, is considered to be the most expensive hotel in the world according to a recent survey from Luxury-Hotels.com. 

The survey compared luxury hotels across the globe and then ranked them based on their average rates for a standard double room between June and August 2012 summer season. The rates listed are based on the average price for a standard double room in dollars.


10. Lizard Island

Located in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia Lizard Island is tenth on the list with an average price of $1651 per night. Lizard Island is truly secluded from the rest of the world providing their guests elegant, yet understated Great Barrier Reef accommodation.





9. Southern Ocean Lodge
