They are the witness of many wars,climate changes etc. They are like miracles in the world that they survive so many years. So here is the list of top 5 longest living trees in the world.

1. Methuselah

It’s difficult enough to believe that a tree that was a sapling prior to the Egyptian Pyramids went up is still lively today, as is the case with the Methuselah Tree, a bristlecone pine more than forty five centuries old. But it’s really mysterious to find out under what circumstances it has accomplished this unexpected feat.

2. Sarv-e-Abarkooh

Sarv-e Abar Kuh , also called the Zoroastrian Sarv, is a Cupressus sempervirens tree in Abarkuh, Yazd, Iran. It is protected by the Cultural Heritage Organization of Iran as a national natural monument and is indeed a major tourist attraction with a height of 25 metres and circumference of 18 metres. It is estimated to be over four thousand years old and may be the oldest living thing in Asia.

3. Llangernyw Yew

The Llangernyw Yew is an ancient Yew in the churchyard of the village of Llangernyw in Conwy County Borough, North Wales. The tree is fragmented and its core part has been lost, leaving several enormous offshoots. The girth of the tree at the ground level is 10.75 m.

4. Alerce

Another tree which is known to have been around for 35 million years, due to fossilised remains – the oldest today being a youthful 3,600 years of age – is the Patagonian Cypress, also known as the 'Alerce'. So valuable was the wood of this tree to the Chilean locals that they used roof shingles made from it as money.

5. The Senator

The Senator was the oldest pond cypress tree in the world, located in Big Tree Park, Longwood, Florida. At the time of its demise, it was 125 feet (38 m) tall, with a trunk diameter of 17.5 feet (5.3 m). The tree was destroyed by a fire on January 16, 2012.
