Indian Olympic Moments

1) Karnam Malleshwari

She won a bronze medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics at Sydney.She is the first Indian woman who won the Olympic medal.She lifted 110 kg in snatch and 130 kg in clear and jerk for a total of 240 kg.

2) Khashaba Jadhav

He was India's first individual Olympic medal winner. he won the freestyle wrestling bronze medal at the 1952 Helsinki Games.

3) Hocky

It was the the golden period of Indian Hockey.Indian men Hockey team won every gold medal in the Olympics from 1928 to 1956.

4) Leander Paes

After Khashaba Jadhav India have to wait very long period to win another individual medal in Olympics.Leander Paes had broken the deadlock in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics when he beat Fernando Meligeni to win bronze medal.

5) Milkha Singh

Milkha Singh came fourth in the men's 400m racing in 1960 Olympics at the Rome.He finished 2nd in the all of the 400m races in the Olympic except hte final one.

6) Rajyavardhan Rathore

He won the silver medal in Men's Double Trap at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Rathore's silver medal win was a turning point in the history of Indian Olympic Sports.

7) Abhinav Bindra

He won the Gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.He scored 596 (fourth) in the qualifying round and out-scored all other shooters in the finals with a round of 104.5. He is the first Individual Gold medal winner in Indian Olympic History.

8) Sushil Kumar

He won the bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He won this medal in the event of freestyle wrestling.He also qualified for London Olympics 2012.

9) Vijender Singh

At the 2008 Summer Olympics, he defeated Badou Jack of Gambia and won the Bronze medal for India.He is the first Indian boxer who won a medal in the Olympics.

10) PT Usha

She finfished 1st in the semi finals of 400m racing in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. She lost the bronze medal by 1/100th of second. She became the first Indian woman to reach to the final of an Olympic event.
